Website said pick up in store, I call to get ready to pick up the laptop and she started fast talking and taking a tone with me telling me I need to give her some time to verify this that and the other Website said 3$ pay for first week she said electronics have a 100 dollar down payment. Misleading for sure. Canceled on the phone.

I’m giving this two stars only because I’m trying to be nice. I stayed polite the entire time, even though the whole experience was off-putting and disappointing. I’m new to the area and didn’t know that each Rent-A-Center operates separately. Where I’m from, there’s only one store for the entire area, so I assumed the system was shared. I walked in looking for a couch and mentioned I already had an account open at the Elmira location. That’s when I learned I needed to have my account transferred—but no one explained that clearly at first. I was told to call the Elmira store myself, but when I did, they said this store was actually supposed to initiate the transfer. It felt like I was being passed around and expected to do everything on my own. The first guy I spoke to was okay, but I don’t think he fully understood what was going on. Then the woman I spoke with explained how things worked, but she had an attitude. I tried not to take it personally, but the tone was unnecessary and off-putting. I was still polite, just trying to understand everything. The worst part? I stepped outside to make a quick call to Elmira—literally only gone for a few minutes—and when I came back, the door was locked. They knew I was coming right back, and I could clearly see everyone inside. She didn’t let me back in, just stood behind the glass explaining the process like I was supposed to take it all in from outside. That was honestly wild to me and felt really rude. I felt shut out, unwelcome, and kind of judged for no reason. I’m not from here, so I didn’t know how the “zone” stuff works. I wasn’t trying to be difficult—I was just trying to figure it out. But the way they handled it made me feel like I was doing something wrong or suspicious, which I wasn’t. That kind of treatment isn’t okay. This definitely wasn’t the type of experience I expected or deserved. I hope the next location they sent me to is more respectful and helpful.

I missed one payment and I received calls for 3 days multiple times a day and then someone showed up at my door. For one payment. I wasn't weeks or months behind, just one payment. I have been paying for over a yr on this account so it's not like I just started and won't pay. I don't miss payments often so I feel this was beyond extreme.
