We built VRTO because when nobody publishes the real numbers, made-up ones fill the void.
We came from inside this industry. For years, our team has worked with rent-to-own stores across the country. That work showed us something bigger than any one store: millions of people use rent-to-own, and the industry had no home online. We wanted a place where shoppers could find local stores and understand their options.
Our work is informed by active memberships in APRO (the Association of Progressive Rental Organizations), TRIB Group, and Nationwide Marketing Group.
And where nothing is published, made-up numbers and secondhand guesses fill the void. Shoppers deserved better, and so did the stores. So we built a directory of stores, with contact details, ratings, and guides to help shoppers ask the right questions.

How we collect and check store data.
Store listings are built from publicly available business information and, when a retailer supplies it, the retailer's own data. We organize it by state, city, category, and company, and every listing goes through the same three steps.
Collection
Store names, addresses, phone numbers, hours, and categories are gathered from public business sources, plus retailer-supplied data when available.
Validation
Every update runs automated checks on address formatting, phone numbers, operating hours, and map location. Anything that looks wrong is flagged for manual review before it is published.
Monitoring
Closures, moves, and other changes are picked up and reviewed by our team. Store pages show when a listing was last confirmed, and anyone can report a correction through our contact page.
Content review
Guides, articles, and blog posts are reviewed by our editorial team, people with hands-on experience running rent-to-own operations.
Honest about cost
Rent-to-own usually costs more than buying outright, and we say so plainly. Our payment calculator adds up what a set of payments comes to over the life of an agreement.
