The honest way to find a rent-to-own store.
Search "rent-to-own near me" and you get a wall of ads, dead listings, and store sites that only talk about themselves. VRTO puts every store in one place (real hours, real ratings, and the real cost) so you can compare and choose with confidence.
Figures are illustrative. Always ask the store for its exact numbers.
Three steps. That's the whole thing.
VRTO does one job: connect you with the rent-to-own stores around you, and give you what you need to choose between them.
Find
Type your city, ZIP, or state. We show every rent-to-own store nearby: national chains and the independents most searches never surface.
Understand
Each listing shows hours, location, phone, Google rating, the categories a store carries, and its VRTO Score. No digging across ten store sites.
Compare
See your options side by side and pick the store that fits: closest, best-rated, carries what you need. Then walk in knowing what to ask.

ExampleWhy our listings are right when everyone else's are wrong.
Most directories scrape data once and let it rot. We re-check ours constantly, in four layers.
Every listing shows a "Last checked" date, so you always know how fresh the information is.
Synced
Listings come from authorized retailer feeds and re-sync every four hours: name, address, phone, hours, categories.
Validated
Every sync auto-checks address formatting, phone numbers, hours, and map location. Anything off gets flagged before it goes live.
Confirmed
For many listings, our team contacts the store directly to confirm the details firsthand.

The VRTO Score, and what it does (and doesn't) tell you.
Every store gets a score out of 100 so you can judge listings at a glance. Here's what goes into it.
How much of the listing is filled in and current.
What customers say across public ratings.
How much the store actually carries.
What the Score is not
A high Score means a store's information is complete and current. It does not mean rent-to-own is the cheapest way to get what you need, or that a store's prices are fair. Use the Score to find a trustworthy listing, then use the cost questions below to decide if the deal is right for you.
Stores earn it, and not all of them pass.
When you see the Verified badge, a store applied, paid for a hands-on screening, and met our standards, confirmed by a real person on our team, not an algorithm.
Stores pay for the screening, not for the result. Not every store that applies is verified. It's the same idea as a Better Business Bureau verification: the fee covers the work of vetting, not the verdict.
How rent-to-own actually works, in plain English.
Before you walk into any store, know these five things.
It's a lease, not a loan.
You're renting with the option to own, not borrowing money. The CFPB confirmed this in 2024.
Usually no credit check.
Most stores skip traditional credit. That is the whole point for the millions of Americans with no credit file at all.
You can return it anytime.
Hit a rough month? Return the item and stop paying, with no penalty and no credit damage. In many states you can also reinstate later.
The real cost is higher than the sticker.
Over a full lease you'll typically pay 1.5 to 2.5 times the cash price. That's the trade-off for no credit check and the freedom to walk away.
Buying early saves the most.
Most agreements have an early purchase option: buy within the first 90 days and save 40 to 60 percent off the total. If you plan to keep the item, this is your biggest lever.
Illustrative example. Always ask the store for its exact numbers.

VRTO is free for shoppers, and no store can pay for a better spot. We're not owned by, affiliated with, or endorsed by any rent-to-own company. Our directory is organized by location and relevance and is never reordered by who pays us. We make money through our matching service: when you ask us to find a store, we connect you with one local store and that store pays us a referral fee. We share your request only with that one store, and we don't sell your information to anyone else.
