VRTO now lists stores that rent to own storage sheds, barns, garages, and cabins. We listed every shed dealer and store we have confirmed. If we missed yours, list your store. It is free. To browse, start at the rent-to-own sheds directory and pick your state.
Last updated October 9, 2026. On that date the directory listed 520 shed companies with 836 locations in 48 states. The live count is always on the sheds page itself.
What VRTO added
VRTO added a separate section of the site for portable building stores. These are lots that sell sheds, barns, garages, and finished cabins, and that offer a rent-to-own plan on them. The furniture and appliance stores already on VRTO do not sell buildings, so sheds have their own pages, their own search, and their own state and area pages.
Each shed listing shows what a shopper needs to make a call: the store's name, its street address, its phone number, and a link to its website. Where a store carries more than one location, each lot is listed on its own, because the lot you visit is the lot that delivers your building. The full list starts on the sheds and portable buildings page.
How we checked each store
A shed location is listed only when it matches its Google Business Profile. For every location we pulled the Google listing and compared four things: the business name, the type of business, the distance between the two addresses, and the street number. A location that matched on all of them was marked GMB-verified and listed. A location that did not match was held back for review and left off the site. A listing Google shows as closed drops out.
That check is why the launch count is smaller than the list we started from. The first dataset held 633 companies and 1,208 locations. After the Google match, 557 companies and 898 locations qualified. We would rather show fewer stores than send someone to an empty lot. You can read more about how VRTO collects and checks its data.
A match confirms that the store exists where it says it does. It does not rate the store, and it says nothing about the terms a store offers. Those come from the store, in writing.
How to use the sheds directory
Start with your state. Each state page lists the shed stores there and groups them by the area they serve, so you can see which lots are within delivery range. Texas is a good example of a large state with stores spread across many areas: see the rent-to-own sheds in Texas page.
From a state page, open an area to see the stores near you, then open a store to see its address, phone, and website. Shed stores deliver, so the closest lot is not always the only choice. A store one area over may still reach you. Call and ask how far it travels before you rule it out.
If you already know the company, the shed companies list shows every company in the directory with its locations.
What to ask a shed store before you sign
A rent-to-own shed is a lease. The store delivers the building, you make scheduled payments, and you own it at the end. You can usually return it and stop paying. The numbers differ from one store to the next, so ask each store the same questions and write the answers down:
- What is each payment, and how many payments are there?
- What is the Total cost if I make every payment?
- Is delivery and setup part of the price, or billed on top?
- Does my site need to be level, and who checks it?
- What does it cost to buy the building out early, and by when?
- What happens if I move before the agreement ends?
Ask your city or county about permits before you sign. Many places allow a small storage building without one and require a permit above a set size. Our guide to how no-credit-check shed approval works covers what stores usually ask for when you apply.
Shed guides to read next
We published five shed guides with the directory. They cover the types of buildings stores rent, the common sizes, how renting compares with buying or a storage unit, and what to expect on delivery day. Each guide links back to the directory, so you can go from a question to a store near you in a few clicks.
What comes next
The shed directory grows as stores pass the Google match. New locations are checked the same way as the launch set, and closed ones come off. If you run a shed lot that rents to own and you do not see it listed, you can ask to be listed. Listing on VRTO is free.
Where these numbers come from
Any figure in this article is a general example, not a quote. Every store sets its own payment and its own number of payments, so the numbers that count are the ones your store puts in writing. Ask for the payment, how many payments there are, and the total before you sign.
Store counts are as of the date in the post and change as stores open, close and pass checks. See how we collect and verify data, or ask any store for its exact terms before you sign.
