So a couple of weeks ago, I ordered a queen size mattress from Rent-A-Center For my son. We were gracious enough to have a friend actually buy him a mattress. Therefore, we did not have to continue payments the Rent-A-Center. I called Rent-A-Center last week and proceeded to tell them that we were no longer able to make the payments that it was gonna put us in a financial bind and that we had a friend that helped us out If they would be very nice to come pick it up this Thursday on the 27th The store manager(Mike) said that was absolutely fine. He hated to see that we had to return it, but understood our financial issue. Fast-forward to today At 6 o’clock this afternoon, the assistant manager for Rent-A-Center in Des Moines area decided to call me to discuss the mattress pick up for Thursday on the 27th Understandably annoyed that we may have to return it to lose a customer proceeded to tell me that it was against Iowa State law that they were unable to return the mattress because Iowa passed the law that they’re not allowed to accept return mattresses. (They passed this supposed lol two years ago) Beyond hearing this, I was a little puzzled because not even six years ago I worked for Rent A Center myself now if this law had been passed in Iowa, like this assistant, Manager had said the other two locations in Iowa city and southern Iowa would’ve told me the same thing when I called them this afternoon a little bit after I got off the phone with him. Not to my surprise, this is not a state law that Iowa has this is a preference and a scare tactic that this Rent-A-Center seems to have to either get payment out of customers or they don’t wanna return the merchandise so they don’t have returns on their record No, I’m not a very mad customer because I know working in sales myself that this tactic is used by managers that one do not have good sales tactic, communication to customers and understanding and empathy In certain situations managers like this are not good for business and it does Give bad customer morale. I did Google search those two things that he quoted in the phone call which by the way is a recorded phone call through Rent-A-Center All phone calls are recorded. Please keep that in mind Rent-A-Center. I would also like to speak out because apparently just because I’m from the south and I talk slow , Doesn’t mean I am slow. Im only making a review because I would hate for this ASM to continue to do a scare tactic for people to make payments after they have asked to return their merchandise because they no longer can afford it In the economy that we live in sometimes it is easier to make a $20-$30 payment a week for something that we need for our household, but when we are given the chance to return these items, we shouldn’t be scared or held in a scare tactic to keep items that we may or may not be able to afford. I really hope Rent-A-Center does better and this doesn’t happen again to someone else. Sincerely, the stupid redneck that you think I am
Pay $10 to reserve my item and the system told me I was supposed to wait for a store associate to get in contact with me and it's been about a week and nobody did so you guys suck , and I will never be using you again and I do not recommend this for anybody else either
I have been doing business with rent a center for years now, and have always been treated with respect and courtesy, and the managers and employees have always been willing to go the extra mile to help you. I would highly recommend this rental store to everyone .
When I first started renting from them and it was great service it has went down here majorly sense. They tell you one thing and then do something completely different. Will not be returning to keep doing service with them after this past experience that I had with them.
I'm very happy about my purchase from rent of center. I was supposed to get my TV yesterday July 11th but when they delivered it and they took it out of the box it was broken. The very next day they replaced my 65 "inch tv. I'm very happy with this rental. Thank you so much.
