First, I will start by saying Les, the manager is very awesome. I have had the opportunity to know him from different companies. He is a peoples person. Delivery personnel I never had a problem with. Now, I will talk about the low rating I am giving them. Vannessa has some of the most unprofessional customer service. My husband had been back and forth in the hospital since July. Which they were aware of the seriousness of what was going on. Les, did work with us. Back to Vannessa, she would call my phone about six times in one day and text as well every day. I do have my call log as proof. Not only that she doesn't relay messages properly. She told Les that I was upset that she called and was “doing her job”. No your JOB is NOT to call me ALL DAY Vanessa. I asked her for my payoff which was under $500. This is a company where I have paid off a living room set, King bed frame, two arcade game, a dining room table plus a switch and NOW a 75in tv and a tv stand with a heating fireplace within two years. I told Vannessa on November 13, approximately 4 pm that if they couldn't wait on the payment for another week then come pick up the 75 in tv and the tv stand with the heated fireplace. She didn't relay that message though. I have since paid off the tv and tv stand. I asked her what would make you think that I wouldn't pay it after every I have paid off within the last two years!!! I have recommended this company to several people but more forward, I am unsure if I will. I am currently waiting on my certificate of ownership paperwork.
So back in 2019 during COVID I called them for them to come pick up there stuff so when they made the appointment to come get there stuff nobody showed they only showed up when I wasn’t home made many appointments for them to come get there stuff nobody showed then I charges against me for not returning there stuff so they did end up getting there stuff but they never told the court that they received there stuff so now it 2025 an the charges are still there called them an Liz tells me it’s my fault even though I tried my best to return there stuff that’s not far now my son is in jail for that called on 8-29-25 to tell somebody they said call back on Tuesday I did nobody still is available to talk to me if somebody from upper management can call me email me sometime knock on my door something
I’ve had 4 or 5 accounts with them and they always been upstanding and friendly
Listen I’ve been doing business with MH since I moved to Fayetteville in ‘23. Never had a problem. Actually paid off my furniture. Ms. Andrea and Mr Troy were a great help, and now that they’re gone my business is going too. John is the new manager there and he doesn’t give off friendly energy at all. I can honestly say Ms. Andrea and Mr. Troy both made sure their customers were satisfied and did what they could to help in any way possible. I really feel as if they’re about to lose a lot of business. Bring Troy & Andrea back !!
Modern Rent to Own ⭐☆☆☆☆ Let me start by saying I’ve rented furniture through this company for the past 8–9 years without issues — until recently. When my husband lost his job, we had to switch from weekly to biweekly payments, and we communicated that clearly. Unfortunately, an employee named Arlet refused to update our account properly and continued to demand weekly payments. Every conversation with her felt like a battle — she was argumentative, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. Even worse, the store manager, Lester, allowed it. He witnessed her behavior and did nothing to stop it. In fact, he allowed his entire team to speak to us — loyal customers of nearly a decade — with complete disrespect. This store has completely gone downhill since Lester took over. The energy, the professionalism, the customer service — it’s all changed, and not for the better. It’s disheartening to watch someone with such a poor attitude drag down an entire team and potentially an entire business. I 100% do NOT recommend Modern Rent to Own
I hate them! Wouldn’t recommend at all… rude…! As had someone helping me and they had the audacity to walk off in the middle of helping me to call TWO PEOPLE about making a payment! Yes these people ⬇️
Never rented anything from this company but the interaction with the staff I experienced contacting them for someone was undeniably horrific. The lack of customer service skills and decorum was mind blowing. I have never in almost 50 years experienced this type of disrespect with a company. I listened to them answer the phone and tell the customer not to call back up there?? Then when I called for the customer and stated I was calling on their behalf to try to work something out. The guy on the phone began to be aggressive with me. Then when I told him he was being aggressive with me and I was being polite. He responded yeah I am being aggressive in this conversation because of the previous situation with the customer. But that had nothing to do with me I was calling as the mediator to try to resolve the issue. But after that interaction I advised the customer to document everything and take it to a lawyer because ppl like that will try to set you up. I advise her to pack up whatever she got from them drop it off and take pictures of the items for her protection. I advise nobody to rent from here. These people are very unprofessional. I will be posting this review on every social media platform I can think of. I’m in an organization as well here in Fayetteville so I will be also spreading the word throughout this community how this company operates. Do better. After reading the reviews it seems that they honestly have not learned anything at all. Nor have they tried to change their approach to handling business/customer complaints.

Over three years ago, the management was awesome. Now, they deceive people in getting their product and lying about the contract. The GM, told us to go somewhere else and we did. Thanks, GM from turning your back on your company, while pointing us in the right direction. I will only return back with all new staff.
WE HAVE TO START THINKING ABOUT WHO WE SPEND OUR MONEY WITH AND DO THEY REALLY VALUE US AS A CUSTOMER?? If I could rate this place at a 0 I would right now! I just moved and was recommended this place by my neighbor. I went in GM waited on me I purchased a bedroom set, and a washer & dryer. When I received the washer & dryer it was something they found way way back in inventory that looked liked it was repoed from someone house five years prior. Whirlpool dryer and a Amana washer. (Didn’t get my clothes clean ( I have pics the ones I text MH) the dryer was good but both used and old) this is the worst they tried to put blue greenish tape to try to make it look like it was new. Why? Two weeks later they replaced with brand new ones after I asked them to come and get this mess out my place. Then the bedroom suit SMH my daughter goes to open one of the drawers and the front face came off. I called about this as of today Aug 12, 2023 no one has come to replace the part that fell off it’s still in the corner. Now let’s talk about financial side of this. When I went in date of purchasing we discussed payment and I let the GM know my pay period. I got a phone call last week about pmt. I let Maurice (sales mgr.) know you are calling me on the incorrect week this isn’t my pay week. I advise him your GM got this wrong he will need to correct it. I’m thinking everything is ok. I received a phone call on Aug. 11, 2023 from Patrick (GM) saying if I don’t make a pmt. they will file papers on me at the magistrate office. Now you really have my attention. Sometimes things come up at work where u can’t ans. a call this was the case with me. I called Maurice back on his cell that he provided to me he didn’t ans. but texted back. Mind you guys he (Maurice) gave me his cell thinking he might be able to come over late night (not) this suppose to be professional delivery he coming over touching my side. I pushed his hand back so fast like don’t do that my daughter is here. Just a little insight on how unprofessional and unsafe this has come to be. Getting back after I finished my text conversations with Maurice I get out the car and my neighbor came out his place and said Modern Homes called me and asked was you home. I was livid this is my neighbor that knows nothing about me and his name is not on my call list I’ve only known him about a month now only in passing. I reached out to Maurice on his cell with my concerns his response OK! OK! I called today Aug 12, 2023 and the (GM) Jesus help me at this point over talking me I can’t get a word in edge wise, etc. etc. all while refusing to listen to what I’m saying. This is not what we discussed you made a mistake own it and make it right. Instead he says you have late fees, if you don’t get a plan to pay you will never own this, MH will eventually repo this then resell you will just be paying late fees. I just made a pmt. to get off the phone ( now basically you have just taken my single mom money that I work for with fees). He said when I worked at Rent A Center this is how they did but I’m here to help. Help who not me all I’ve gotten from y’all are old appliances, broken furniture, Threats, sexual harassment/ME TOO, Unprofessionalism, unauthorized fees. The only help you given so far is how not to run a business!!!!!!!!!!!! You can’t run someone’s business like this a ENTIRE Chitlin Circus! Do better when dealing with ppl. and their money!
The bedroom set started at $9.99 per week then kept going up until it was $128 a month. Delivery of items was okay. Payment due on the first. A friend was suppose to pay it I have agoraphobia and it is rare that I can make it out of my home already. After hearing the guy from the business banging and banging and banging on my door, he not only sent me into a severe panic attack but I end up cutting ( that is part of my illness) He was aware that I suffer from PTSD from severely abusive relationships. I literally had no clue that the guy ( who he knows) didn't make the payment , I had another friend call to say either I would or he would would be in to make the payment in 4 days and a woman at the business said she didn't believe him and had to hear me say it. I had already messaged them through their site. My phone is not working at this time, I live alone and have no way to call her immediately. Not only did he beat and beat on my door, he parked and watched my apartment for a very long time which pretty much is stalking the customer. It took me over an hour to get my anxiety under control and calm my emotional support cats down. This is not professional at all!! Parking and watching someone's home is very scary. I would not recommend renting from this company. The furniture is very cheaply made to pay such a high price for it.. the frame is metal not wood and squeaks a rattles Everytime you roll which keeps me awake. I could have dealt with the bed frame issue but having him beat on my door like he did that sent me into a severe panic attack and then watching my home is sick! Very unprofessional! To remind you, I couldn't call them, my phone doesn't work. I use a computer until my new government phone comes in. Today on my son's birthday sucked badly. Worse day in a long time . Update..they came to pick items up and literally left my furniture pushed in other rooms scattered. Me being weak I called out his name (Troy) several times with no response. . He was in too much of a rush to put stuff back . He said another guy, gave no name was the one beating on the door and he admitted they knew I had the PTSD and agoraphobia illness. When he left, he said "good luck with a lawsuit" He admitted he called Me.Wesley as stated but not my daughter about me in here scared.
I can not express how helpful Kevin was throughout the whole process with my sisters furniture. They were very understanding with her situation and helped out as much as they could. If you really want to get furniture from any rental place and be valued as a customer and not just another sale, come visit Kevin and let him help you find what you need with great deals and payment plan options avilable for anyone 😉
Hands down, Modern Home Furnishings will be my go to. The sales associates are amazing and helped me find exactly what I was looking for. The delivery/install team was top knotch and did an amazing job. The quality of my furniture is awesome. I will always recommend Modern over any home furnishings store first!! Thank you so much all of you at Modern, the sales team and the delivery set up team you are amazing, reliable and dependable. Thank you 😁
Such friendly staff.. There insurance is awesome.. Help you out in many ways!! The prices are awesome.. You get an extra thirty days to pay off furniture for the cash out price.. Instead of ninety days you get 120.. I brought a mattress set here and i sleep in heaven.. Great quality double stuffed queen set.. I can't tell all the secrets but they are definitely worthy of your visit and purchase.. Tell them there customer Marquita sent you for a credit toward your account!!
