Very rude employees don’t honor their website or management decisions. Stay away

I wanted to share my experience with this specific location. I am writing this review to formally document the unprofessional and harassing behavior I have experienced from the store manager. She has been incredibly dismissive and creates her own rules regarding my account. When I brought up the formal written request for all communication to cease, she falsely claimed it did not apply to my home, which is simply not true. Furthermore, I have attempted to resolve this through corporate channels multiple times, but I have never received a returned call, and they refuse to allow me to speak with anyone who has the authority to resolve my case. Despite my clear requests, representatives from this location have continued to make uninvited visits to my private residence and have previously caused significant issues at my place of employment. They are still threatening and harassing me because I refuse to make payments until my issues have been resolved. I want to pay, but I will not do so until I can speak with someone who can actually help me. I have been forced to escalate this matter to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. I would strongly caution others against doing business with this location, as they do not respect basic consumer rights or boundaries. I honestly don't even see how this store manager is still here at this point, especially after reviewing similar reviews.

I want to share a great experience I have with Rent-A-Center in Opelika when I tell you that Candice the store manager she's also and she has a great team and I got to say that lady has worked with me or been over backwards and I got to tell her I appreciate everything because without her I could have lost everything I've had and again I want to tell Candace the manager of Rent-A-Center in Opelika Alabama she is awesome and I recommend anybody to go and see her she is the best she will work with you all you have to do is communicate let her know what's going on she's the best and again I got to give a great shout out to Candice I appreciate everything again I thank you Candice for all your hard work and working with me and your great team of the store thank you guys and I appreciate everything y'all have done

This will get lengthy. I was browsing online and decided to call before completing my order to see if I could pick up my merchandise in store. I was informed by Terryanna(who I will refer to as T for space purposes) that I could not and would have to have it delivered. Not a problem, I hung up and STILL placed my order. After placing the order, I called to update the number on file with "T" so that I receive a call about delivery as I would be away from the house the next day. I called the next day to schedule delivery as all my paperwork was handled on my and. I spoke with T again numerous times in which she COULD communicate she couldn't see my proof of residence and once I got situated to call back to get the email to send a better view of my residence. Did that and still heard nothing back from her concerning a delivery date. I called again to see what was the status and by then she had left And I was now speaking with Darrel. I then decided to come to the store. He apologized for her lack of communication and said someone who knew more would be in the next morning. Which leads do today and I stop by the store around 10:05 AM. T is on the phone and once finish, I let her know I need to schedule delivery OR cancel the order to which she claims that's she's scheduling my delivery. She claims that it'll be delivered between 1-3 TODAY March 18, 2026. At approximately 3:48 after NO DELIVERY OR COMMUNICATION, I contacted the store AGAIN. T now says her manager Candace cancelled ALL deliveries for the day and now after Ive called she's just now finding this out. So NOW my alleged delivery date is Friday March 20, 2026 between 1-3PM. The communication alone is piss poor especially when RAC ISNT moving furniture out of the Opelika store for T to play like they're just super busy. And the store/furniture smells smoked out! I will update my review after I speak to alleged manager Candace who is conveniently scheduled to return Friday as well. HIGHLY DISSATISFIED IN THE SERVICE AND PAYMENT WILL BE DUE BEFORE I GET MY MERCHANDISE

Do not get nothing from here I paid my deposit to reserve my furniture went to the store to give them my information get a phone call saying they don’t deliver where I stay then the next day I get another call stating they need my information I gave it to them and they said they was gone deliver my furniture today I’ve been waiting all day and I call the lady she gone say they sent my refund so if I don’t get it I will be in your store

Rude, and unprofessional. Told them to come get something bc I couldn’t pay for it, and they wanted to tell me that I needed to make my payment.

We had opened a new account in the Opelika store to get our daughter a refrigerator. Once we did the paperwork and paid a fee,they called us to say that they needed another fee for weekly rent before they could deliver it. ATP, no refrigerator has been delivered so it's like pre paying for merchandise that we haven't had delivered. Each person that works at this store had a different reason as to why certain things couldnt be done. Yet when we were in the process of opening an account, the paperwork they said that they needed had to be complete and they couldn't put it in the system without a payment AND complete paperwork (the verification that they required). We couldn't pay til Thursday and thought that was understood. On Thursday, a card was taken for payment and the paperwork that they needed still lacked because the power bill account is anew account. BUT they took the payment. This place is shady. Through off and on interaction with the employees their actions and reactions made me eery of doing business with them. I notified corporate and my money was returned to the card Corporate even had a different version of new account procedures and/or processing. ***When they called and asked for the other payment before delivery, the young lady asked could she take the money off the card we used to make the initial payment. Mind you also that I told the sales manager that the card was just for initial payment purposes and that I would give them another card to use and store on file once we switched the payment from weekly to monthly. So don't give a card that you don't want this business to keep access to. I'm glad I saw the shadiness B4 the delivery was made.
