Do not shop here they will set you up with promos that you’re not eligible for and don’t say anything until the end because they think you won’t read the contract!!!! But I read mines and didn’t sign!!!!!
Worst store ever, I was trying to get a product and was told that I had to pay my second payment in advance, that was no problem for me I went ahead and did it after that I asked when I could pick up the product I was told I have to bring in a lease agreement to pick up my product I explained to the store that the house I live at is in my brothers name I am his roommate after that they stated that I had to have him on the agreement as a co singer, I was not going to put my brother on as a co singer all my bills are at my address I have lived at this address for the past 7 years and have never had this issue, I called costumer service and stated I would like to just cancel my agreement and get my money back since I never even picked up the product I was supposed to get they called the store and the store stated that they issued me a refund this was one week ago I was told It takes 3 business days for my refund to come in however it’s been a week and still nothing in fact they haven’t canceled my agreement with them, do not go to this store do not use rent a center at all they will just steal your money just save up for what you need and buy it outright from a retailer
I have rented multiple items from Rent A Center locations over the past few years without issue, including three laptops, two really nice tvs, and a set of tires. My most recent rental was an OLED Acer 14 laptop which I returned about six months ago due to excessive heat and poor overall performance because it liked to overheat even when just idling. Until this visit, I had never experienced anything remotely close to this level of inconsistency or hostility. All of my interactions at the Mykawa road location were amazing and I could get in and get out in thirty minutes or less. For two years I lived at an Airbnb and successfully completed multiple rent to own agreements during that time with zero missed payments and two paid off early. I fully understand that policies change and that Airbnb situations may no longer be acceptable due to fraud or charge offs. That part is not the issue, and I was completely reasonable about adjusting to new requirements at this store versus the store I used to go to over at Pearland (before I move here to this new area). October of late last year I moved from my 2 year airbnb into a house under a full one year lease with a roommate. I am a legal tenant listed on the lease, not a sublease or short term arrangement. The electricity bill for the home is solely in my name and reflects the same address as my ID. I came in happy and excited intending to rent a pre rented gaming desktop setup that included a monitor, keyboard, mouse, and PC with 16GB DDR5 and an RTX 5050 for 1130 over 12 months, which was a very VERY good deal in the current market where ram prices have shot up over 300%. I even paid 10 dollars to reserve that exact system. Despite offering to provide clear proof of residency via a utility bill, lease, ID and bank statements I was told that either my roommate or my landlord would have to physically come into the store to cosign on the rental. This makes no sense, especially considering my landlord lives in Austin and my roomate was at work. I was already in the process of contacting my landlord to request an email copy of the lease showing both my name and my roommates name as tenants when the same male employee became rude and condescending and told me I had to leave the store. At no point did I raise my voice, act aggressively, or give any reason for concern, quite the opposite because I was initially eager to get this computer so I could finally hop on the game with my friends from home instead of spending $25~$30 on Lyft rides to and from the pc cafe, and $22 for four hours at the gaming cafe whenever I wanted to go play BF6 with my Military friends still in the service. I calmly stated that I was attempting to obtain the lease they requested and sat down for a few minutes to make a phone call. I genuinely felt like the employee was seconds away from calling the police simply because I was sitting there trying to comply with their own documentation requirements. Because of this interaction, I will not be doing business here ever again. I have no intention of giving my money to a store that treats established customers this way, especially after taking a reservation fee for an item I am now effectively barred from renting. I will also be filing a formal complaint with Rent A Center corporate. Policy changes are understandable. Hostility, inconsistency, and poor treatment of customers are not.
