Inside Rent-A-Center

What you can rent here

Rent-A-Center is a national rent-to-own chain with 1,948 stores across all 50 states, reaching communities from Lawrence, Massachusetts and Kissimmee, Florida to Harlingen, Texas and Booneville, Mississippi. Launched in 1973 in Wichita, Kansas, it was the first national chain to scale the rent-to-own model, building standardized showrooms stocked with new, name-brand merchandise. Stores carry furniture, appliances, electronics, computers, mattresses, gaming, and smartphones on flexible weekly or monthly lease agreements, and like most rent-to-own stores they typically do not require a traditional credit check. Rent-A-Center holds a 4-star Google rating across more than 152,000 reviews. Compare Rent-A-Center on VRTO alongside other rent-to-own stores near you, with hours, ratings, and what each carries.

This email serves as formal notice that I dispute any attempt to process payments from my bank account or debit card associated with this Rent-A-Center account. Your store representatives informed us that our account was denied, shut down, and/or not approved due to alleged “multiple accounts” or “multiple emails” connected to the application. Despite this, we continue receiving payment-related activity and attempted charges, even after autopay was turned off. If the account has been denied or closed, there should be no further attempts to withdraw funds or process automatic payments. Any continued attempt to debit funds after authorization has been revoked may constitute an unauthorized electronic transaction and will be documented accordingly. In addition, the handling of this matter by store staff has been extremely concerning. Calls have been disconnected, questions have gone unanswered, and we have repeatedly received inconsistent information regarding: - whether the account is active, - whether orders were canceled, - whether payments are still being processed, - and why duplicate-account allegations were made against us. We are formally requesting the following in writing immediately: 1. Confirmation of whether the account is approved, denied, suspended, or closed; 2. Confirmation that autopay and all electronic payment authorizations have been fully removed; 3. A complete accounting of all payments processed, pending, reversed, or attempted; 4. Confirmation that no further payment attempts will be made without written authorization; 5. Written clarification regarding the alleged “multiple account” issue. Please understand that continued unauthorized payment attempts after notice has been provided may result in formal complaints being filed with: - South Carolina Department of Consumer Affairs, - the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, - and any other appropriate consumer protection or financial regulatory agencies. All future communication regarding this matter should be professional and documented in writing. - the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, - and any other appropriate consumer protection or financial regulatory agencies. IF YOU WANT TO BROKE AND ROBBED THATS ON YOU. Let me give you a clear picture. I got a computer from RAC and ended up leaving my job so i did what my responsibility is and returned the computer. I was told that if I want to return, I would have a $500 credit that I gave them towards that computer to go towards another computer or electronic that is similar. I returned to get another computer later when my life stablilized. I was told that the $500 would only go towards the full price and that I cannot pay out early, which would mean that I would pretty much pay double the regular price almost $3,000.00 for something that is priced at 1,700.00 if i buy it out at a electronics store. You cannot utilize the cash price. But if i come back without using the credit i could pay $1,187.00 and pay it out early before the cash price date is over. Which would mean they kept a FREE $500 of my money. Listen, don’t waste your time. Save up for the items and pay it out somewhere else. In the end it will be worth it. TRUST ME OR THEY WILL ROB YOU.

I’ve had an account with them for over 2 years, paid off 3 products already. The current contract I’m on was a custom order and I’ve been paying on-time for more than 7 months… So in return for good history, they sent a man in a BOX TRUCK to my house, for a late payment, after I told them I would bring the product to them to hold that same day. WE WILL NEVER SHOP HERE AGAIN.

I have used this rent a center multiple times. Porcha is amazing. She will go above and beyond to help you, bundling your furniture ect. To save you $$$. Porcha is very professional, polite. I have changed my mind several times in ordering something different I found and she is extremely patient and kind. The store is clean, the men who deliver are very professional on time and careful with the furniture when they put it together. Porcha really does make this rent a center the best in Horry County.

I've been a rent a center customer for 5 years having an account never missed payments, I've had many rentals paid off with them. The Framingham and Worcester store in MA has great service. Since I moved to this area, I've had the worst service experience from this store. They are so inconvenient, knocking on my door everyday, when I told them over the phone I have covid, I'm on bed rest and gave them a date when I was going to pay for the installment. They completely disregarded the date I told them I was going to pay, instead kept sending people to knock on my door everyday while I'm home sick, pressuring me to pay them, when they want to get paid, having no respect for my situation or condition even for the fact I never denied I wasn't going to pay, I gave them a date I was going to get paid, and yett they did this awful, inappropriate, inconvenient and inconsiderate attitude towards me, disrespecting my recovery. Worst store I ever been to. I'll make sure once I recover, to pay off what I owe and transfer to another store, because I refuse to give money to an awful poor store like that. If I could give ZERO stars for the customer service to this store I would.
