What you can rent here

Rent-A-Center is a national rent-to-own chain with 1,948 stores across all 50 states, reaching communities from Lawrence, Massachusetts and Kissimmee, Florida to Harlingen, Texas and Booneville, Mississippi. Launched in 1973 in Wichita, Kansas, it was the first national chain to scale the rent-to-own model, building standardized showrooms stocked with new, name-brand merchandise. Rent-A-Center holds a 4-star Google rating across more than 152,000 reviews. Compare Rent-A-Center on VRTO alongside other rent-to-own stores near you, with hours, ratings, and what each carries.

I moved to South Carolina over 10 years ago and have consistently had positive interactions with Crystal. No matter the situation, she has always been professional, pleasant, and helpful. In 2025, I underwent major surgery and was unable to work for a period of time. During that time, I fell behind on payments for a bedroom set I had been paying on for about two years. I also fell behind on other important bills, including rent, as I was trying to manage everything on a single income while recovering. Rent-A-Center was not my top priority at the time, but I did what I could under very difficult circumstances. I am happy to say I was able to pay off my balance a few weeks ago. While I have had mixed experiences with some staff members, I can personally say that Crystal has always provided excellent customer service and is the main reason I would recommend this location. If I am ever able to rent again in the future, I would choose Crystal’s store without hesitation. She has truly gone above and beyond for me. I regret that life circumstances made things difficult, but sometimes unexpected challenges happen and people need time to get back on their feet. It’s important to recognize that not every missed payment or delay is the result of someone avoiding responsibility. Life events such as major illness, surgery, job loss, or unexpected financial hardship can significantly impact a person’s ability to meet their obligations, even when they are trying their best to do so. In my own experience, I do not avoid my responsibilities. However, there have been times when circumstances outside of my control made it extremely difficult to stay on track financially. During those periods, I did my best to manage what I could while dealing with health and income challenges. At the same time, while businesses do have a responsibility to collect payments and manage accounts, customer service approach matters. Research consistently shows that respectful and professional communication leads to better outcomes, while negative attitudes or unprofessional behavior can increase stress and discourage customers from resolving issues promptly. Ultimately, both sides benefit when communication is handled with patience, understanding, and professionalism—especially when people are going through difficult situations.

I was a customer for 2 years. My payments were on time every week, work ended up getting slow, so paymnets ended up getting a little behind , but i still ended up paying and getting all caught up, they still would come to my house 2-3 times a day calling at 8pm at night when the store closes at 6, coming to my house after 6pm and trying to open my door quite a few times. After veing almost paid off with them , ended up getting behind, and seeing if it was okay if i come put somwthing down instead of nothing , but that wasnt good enough for them , i was told "the whole payment or i come get your stuff because it seems like we are not a priority" when i told her that my mortgage and lot rent was a priority. I got fed up, and told them to come grab theyre stuff . I would call and ask for a total so i could get caught up and if Charles answered the phone it was always an outrageous price. I called up there a few times to get a total on the same day and i had 3 different people tell my 3 different prices. Charles always was telling me thr wrong price. Until i went up there and it yet again was a different price. Crystal the Manager told me one time that if I didnt put my card on Auto-Pay she could deny cash payments . The whole store is very unprofessional. Would not recommend! I could go on and on. 0/10. And even though I paid soon much on the stuff. Im glad they are out of my life. No more harassment

The manager named Crystal is very rude and disrespectful I ran into some difficulties since I got injured at work so I get workman comp checks sometimes it comes late and when it does she always give me a hard time and talks about me to the drivers while they are on the phone she is terrible at her job when I call and talk to anyone else I don't have a problem I will be calling corporate tomorrow morning. This is an update they responded to my review and said someone would call me but they didn't and the number that they posted no one answers they just put you on hold and no one answers if I could I would just buy my washer and dryer outright instead of dealing with rent a center!!!!!!
