What you can rent here

Rent-A-Center is a national rent-to-own chain with 1,948 stores across all 50 states, reaching communities from Lawrence, Massachusetts and Kissimmee, Florida to Harlingen, Texas and Booneville, Mississippi. Launched in 1973 in Wichita, Kansas, it was the first national chain to scale the rent-to-own model, building standardized showrooms stocked with new, name-brand merchandise. Stores carry furniture, appliances, electronics, computers, mattresses, gaming, and smartphones on flexible weekly or monthly lease agreements, and like most rent-to-own stores they typically do not require a traditional credit check. Rent-A-Center holds a 4-star Google rating across more than 152,000 reviews. Compare Rent-A-Center on VRTO alongside other rent-to-own stores near you, with hours, ratings, and what each carries.

I had a very disappointing experience with this location. I initially worked with Whitney, and later communicated with the store manager, Kay. An appliance was delivered to my home, but I refused the delivery because the item arrived with a missing/broken piece. What made the situation even more concerning was that when the delivery drivers contacted Kay about the issue, I overheard her instruct them to go ahead and install it anyway and told them I could simply put in a work order afterward to have it fixed. So the expectation was for me to accept and begin paying for a machine they already knew was not in proper working condition. That is completely unacceptable. At no point did Whitney disclose that the unit had been previously rented/used. That information only came up after I raised concerns, which made the entire interaction feel even less transparent. When I addressed the issue with Kay, my concerns felt minimized. I was told the missing part was “the size of a pea,” as if that somehow made the issue insignificant. Respectfully, the size of the broken/missing part is not the issue. If I am expected to enter into a financial agreement and make ongoing payments, I expect the item to be complete, functional, and for any prior use to be clearly disclosed upfront. The biggest issue here was the lack of honesty, transparency, and professionalism in how this was handled. I ultimately chose not to move forward because this did not feel like a trustworthy business transaction.

I went to buy a sofa for my new apartment I just got. They attempted to bring the sofa but it was too big and told me I had to pick a new sofa. I asked them to just refund me because I didn’t want another sofa and they told me they did but they lied and kept my money and they tried to charge me for a sofa I didn’t even get. I’ve been going to the store and calling them and they keep telling me the refund was made but if it was made it wouldn’t be telling me I have a payment that’s past due for the sofa .. I’m about to take legal actions because it seems like they are stealing my money and doesn’t want to return it I will never shop here again I will be file a lawsuit!
