Inside Rent-A-Center

What you can rent here

Rent-A-Center is a national rent-to-own chain with 1,948 stores across all 50 states, reaching communities from Lawrence, Massachusetts and Kissimmee, Florida to Harlingen, Texas and Booneville, Mississippi. Launched in 1973 in Wichita, Kansas, it was the first national chain to scale the rent-to-own model, building standardized showrooms stocked with new, name-brand merchandise. Stores carry furniture, appliances, electronics, computers, mattresses, gaming, and smartphones on flexible weekly or monthly lease agreements, and like most rent-to-own stores they typically do not require a traditional credit check. Rent-A-Center holds a 4-star Google rating across more than 152,000 reviews. Compare Rent-A-Center on VRTO alongside other rent-to-own stores near you, with hours, ratings, and what each carries.

My experience with Rent-A-Center has honestly been one of the most stressful and uncomfortable customer experiences I’ve had. From the beginning, the whole process was a mess. I was required to start making weekly payments right away, and I was getting the same harassing phone calls over and over, yet the TV I was paying for was not even delivered until over a month and a half later. That alone made no sense and was extremely frustrating. How are you demanding weekly payments and constantly calling someone when they do not even have the product yet? The constant phone calls are excessive and completely unnecessary. On the actual day your payment is due—not even late—they will call multiple times. That is unheard of and deeply disrespectful. Most companies give you at least some room before acting like that, but Rent-A-Center seems to immediately jump into pressure tactics. It got even worse a few months ago when I was only one day late on a payment and they came banging on my door. That was completely unacceptable. It felt invasive, aggressive, and honestly disturbing. No company should be showing up at someone’s home acting like that over a payment that was barely late. Their behavior overall is gross, anxiety-causing, and concerning. It does not feel professional at all. It feels like harassment, and it creates unnecessary stress over something that should be handled with basic respect and decency. I would strongly advise people not to rent from Rent-A-Center. Between charging me before I even received the TV, constantly calling, and showing up banging on my door over being one day late, this has been a terrible experience and not one I would recommend to anyone.

I’ve done business with this Rent-A-Center location for years and never had a single issue. I’ve always paid, communicated, and treated them with respect. Now, out of nowhere, one employee decides to have a bad day and take it out on me while I’m already going through a tough time. Instead of working with a loyal customer who’s struggling, they tried to take advantage of the situation and showed zero understanding or professionalism. That’s not how you treat someone who has supported your business for years. It’s disappointing to see customer service go downhill like this. Loyalty clearly doesn’t matter here, and it feels like they care more about pressure than people. I expected better after all the time I’ve been a customer. Very frustrating experience. 😡

These people come banging on my door like they’re a police or something and that once but like three times just aggressive and very loud. I dealt with them before cause a couple of months before hand they’re stating that they’re looking for my fiancé stating that they have these items that he ordered and he hasn’t made payments on them and they’re here to collect so I’m like I don’t have these items and my fiancé never made an account with these guys so I’m in a nice at first they said all here’s the number have your fiancé give him a call so when my fiancé did apparently it was a big hole misunderstanding and it was for another person not my fiancé fast forward to today they come banging on my door. You know my dogs are barking and stuff like that. Their dogs are gonna bark so when I open the door, they’re talking To me looking for my fiancé stating that he had stuff and we’re here to collect and I’m like we already dealt with you guys a couple of months prior and they said there’s a big big understanding. We don’t even have an account with you guys and they’re talking to me like my fiancé would lied to me saying that. But they’re looking for a PC computer or something. You can’t hide that for me and they are just rude about the whole time and I’m just like I’m I’m tired of y’all coming to my door, we already settled this we called before and whoever is on the phone with with my fiancé. The person on the phone (from a couple of months ago) said it was a big misunderstanding and a person at my door who was banging at it got annoyed with my dog barking because they can’t hear the person on the phone. That’s not my problem you came to my house come banging on my door. Don’t get mad about my dogs barking at you. Are you right now you are a complete stranger interrupting my peace. If I can give us a lower rating, I would. I would also like to make a sign out that my fiancé have never once received calls. We haven’t received any emails from them stating that we owe them anything. Just these people keep showing up to my door and it’s like we’ll call them and like it’s a misunderstanding and couple of months later. They’ll show back up at my door stating that we have stuff that they’re here to collect and I’m like I don’t have shit from you guys for a company who can’t even have the courtesy like if we had stuff from them you would think we would’ve gotten an email or at least a phone call stating we owe this but we didn’t receive anything
