FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
COLUMBUS, Ohio, October 9, 2026. The tire goes on a Tuesday. The money comes on Friday. For a household that pays for big purchases a week at a time, that gap is the whole problem, and rent-to-own tires exist to close it: a set on the car today, paid off over a few months, owned at the end. The hard part was never the agreement. It was finding the store.
Three national tire networks each run their own locator. The rent-to-own chains that carry tires list them store by store, if they list them at all. Independent tire shops that offer lease-to-own terms through a leasing company are findable only if you already know their name. A shopper with a flat and a phone had to search each one.
Today VRTO (vrto.com), the home of rent-to-own, published a single directory of rent-to-own and lease-to-own tire and wheel locations: 1,005 locations in 40 states from more than 100 companies, as of October 9, 2026, at vrto.com/tires-wheels. Type a ZIP code and see who will put tires on the car this week, with the company, the address, the hours, the store's public Google rating, and the week VRTO last refreshed the listing. Florida has 89 locations, Texas 88, Missouri 76, Ohio 73.
Tire shopping happens after something has already gone wrong, VRTO said: a blowout, a bald set the week before a trip, an inspection the car cannot pass. Nobody in that moment wants to learn the industry. They want a list of who will put tires on the car today and let them pay as they go, close enough to drive to. That list did not exist. Now it does, and anyone can check how it was built.
Who is on the list, and how it was built
The directory has three kinds of entry. The national networks, RNR Tire Express, RAW Wheels + Tires, and RimTyme, each appear as one company with every location VRTO could match. Rent-to-own chains whose own websites offer tires appear with their stores; tire selection varies by store, so VRTO tells shoppers to call ahead. About 70 independent tire shops that offer lease-to-own terms, most through a third-party leasing company, appear on the same footing as the networks.
Every network and independent location was matched to a Google Business Profile at its street address before it went up; locations that could not be matched are held out, not guessed at. Chain locations come from VRTO's audit of each chain's website. The method is published at vrto.com/how-we-collect-data, and the counts by state are a file anyone can download at vrto.com/research.
Listing a store is free. Rankings are never for sale.
Sheds, the other thing people rent to own and cannot find
The same problem holds for backyard sheds and portable buildings, sold on weekly payments by builders and dealer lots that mostly have one or two locations each. VRTO's sheds directory, live since July, now lists 836 locations in 48 states at vrto.com/sheds, every one matched to a Google Business Profile before listing. South Carolina leads with 78.
Before you sign
A rent-to-own or lease-to-own agreement lets an approved customer take the tires or the building now and pay on a set schedule, often weekly, every two weeks, or monthly. You own it after the last payment or an early purchase, or you can end the agreement by returning it; ask what you would lose. Some tire shops offer these terms through a separate leasing company, which is the company you sign with. Terms differ by company and by state. VRTO's advice is to ask every store the same five questions: the total cost to own, the number of payments, the early purchase or same-as-cash window and exactly what must be paid inside it including fees, what happens after a missed payment, and what is included (mounting, balancing, and road hazard for tires; delivery, setup, and permits for sheds). VRTO is a directory, not a lessor; each company sets its own terms under its state's law.
If you rent to own, you belong on the record
VRTO is building one place for all of rent-to-own in the United States: furniture, appliances, electronics, tires, sheds, and the storefront and online companies that offer them. A store that is listed can check its page. A store that is missing can add itself free at vrto.com/get-listed; a person reviews every submission before it goes live.
