It's needed because of people's credit. It's a service, but you are paying for this service they don't have to provide. This means that you pay much more for items than you would normally in the end of you purchase it in payments. The fact that I can bring a laptop in and exchange it for a newer model when I want is a good thing because I enjoy having the very latest tech.

Had some difficulty with a recliner I wanted to get there and they said they were having problems getting it. I kept getting put off. So I went to their competitor and got what I wanted at even a lower price.
We ordered our washer and dryer set and needed it asap and within 2 days of ordering it they were at my home looking them up. We love our washer and dryer.
So they “checked” my information with just a name and DOB and denied me service because I didn’t “qualify”…it was more so the “manager” (because we know he is not the manager) has a personal issue with a friend of mine that he made extremely uncomfortable. Which has nothing to do with taking my money or business. Pathetic. I took my purchase elsewhere.
These people called me over and over again trying to reach someone that had purchased a refrigerator from them. I explained that I didn’t know this person, although I did have the same last name as the person that they were looking for. The phone calls kept coming and each time I would tell them that they had the wrong number and to please stop calling. I finally started calling them back one morning asking for a random person that didn’t work there and when they would tell me that he didn’t work there I would say thank you and say that I would try again later. On the third phone call the manager Scott answered and was very rude. He told me that no one worked there by that name and I told him that I would call back. He said ma’am you are calling the wrong business. That’s when I laughed and let him in on the fact that I wasn’t really looking for the person I was asking for. He became angry and had some issues with his temper. Apparently he doesn’t like being the butt end of a joke. I haven’t bought anything from rent-a-center nor do I plan to, but if you are considering it, I would most definitely go to another location. It is obvious that if a real situation or problem would occur that this manager is not equipped with the skills mentally or emotionally to deal appropriately with customers. Side note** Don’t be like Ashley ** Pay for your refrigerator so Rent-A-Center isn’t harassing random people! 😂
