Absolutely AWFUL to deal with! I rented my washer and dryer set until I was able to find one to buy. Unfortunately I lost my job and knew I was going to be a week late on my payment last month. I called ahead of time, before my payment was due, and told them I was going to be late. They were incredibly rude to me, and threatened to recover the equipment. According to my contract, recovery doesn’t happen until 10 or more days late. Based off of the way they spoke to me and how they handled their business, we decided to just go to Lowe’s and purchase a new set through them. Once the set was purchased, I called the store on Tuesday to schedule a pickup. The pickup was scheduled for Thursday between 11-1. I rearranged my schedule to make sure that time slot fit, and waited and waited and no phone call and nobody showed up. I allowed extra time after the appointment window in case they were busy, yet nobody showed up so I called the store. The lady at the store said they must have forgot about me, and would I be available between 530-6. I was not available, as my son had basketball practice to we rescheduled for Monday (today) between 11-1. I just got off the phone with possibly the most rude man I’ve ever spoke with that was yelling at me, talking over me, and saying he would only pick it up between 1-3 because of where I live. First of all, that’s terrible good business and customer service. You don’t yell at customers, and you apologize when TOU make a mistake. I scheduled this pickup at a time that best fit our schedules, and it’s expected that the business is able to adhere to this. Yelling at me and over talking me and just being plain mean is unacceptable when I’m just trying to get you to come get your stuff when promised, especially after completely missing the first time. There is no excuse, especially given several days notice. What’s especially interesting, is that they were threatening to come get the equipment the day my payment came due last month, but now that I stopped playing their games and purchased a new (and better) set- they act like they can’t be bothered. It’s alarming the way they treat people, and I wouldn’t recommend anyone doing business with them. I am so glad I decided to not pay them off and purchase through Lowe’s, I saved almost $1300! You couldn’t even pay me the $1300 to do business with them again, not one time ever again! If I could give negative stars, it would be without hesitation. There’s a right way and a wrong way to treat people, and if they treat customers like this I would truly hate to see how they treat the people around them. 👎

I am submitting this formal complaint regarding a debt collection account that has been incorrectly assigned to me. This account has been in the collections system for three years, despite being fully paid. The error appears to have resulted from miscommunication between the store and the corporate office. On February 10, 2026, I contacted District Manager Ms. Towns regarding this issue. Following her investigation, it was confirmed that the account had been erroneously sent to collections. I was assured that she would provide the necessary documentation for me to dispute the account with the collections agency. Despite repeated follow-ups over the course of a month, I have yet to receive this paperwork. I have sent multiple communications, often receiving no response until I reached out again several days later. On March 4, 2026, I contacted corporate and requested a call back from the regional manager, but I have still not received any response. The continued delay and lack of resolution put me at risk of an inaccurate collections account being reported to credit bureaus, which could negatively affect my credit for a debt I do not owe. This situation has caused unnecessary stress and financial concern.

Folks, today I 'witnessed' 👀 a verbal attack from a employee of Rentacenter. It was hard, cold with no ounce of empathy. The active phrase?... 'over 2 days?!'... 'over 2 days?!'. It was lunch time, store busy and this guy just wouldnt stop harrassing her! Saying, 'I'm just doing my job'. Co'mom, times are hard. All this additional stress over 2 days. There is always a right way to do something. People stood like statues, unnerved by what they, too were seeing👀😡 I felt for her as she yelled out over and over - 'you come to my JOB?!' 'In front of my customers?!' It was a mess, as I felt compelled to do something. If this is the way rentercenter treats their customers y'all better run the other way... over 2 damn days. Smdh This occured Monday afternoon, March 9th about 12:30 pm at the Ward blvd/Brentwood.

We started renting from them six years ago through our mother! Every time we asked how much we left owing the numbers got higher and lower and back higher and then even higher! Two years ago our mother's brother went up in there and asked over and over again what's left to pay it all off! Whats left that's left on his sister's account. He paid it all off the remaining balance right then and there has the bank receipt to prove it mind y'all that was 2 years ago! Never heard a word for two years! They called our mother 2 days ago saying the last payment never went through and needed her card to pay the balance! Our mother stated that her brother paid off her account with them a long time ago. He hangs up calls again the next day tells her a similar story. She tells them my brother paid her end balance awhile back. He started arguing with her an elderly woman amputee saying they no longer wants our mom's business! Then our mom states she never would rent from them every again. The higher-ups really needs to investigate that location. Either they messed up the records. They were stealing earlier on. Falsifying records. Are now they're trying to scamming the elderly. I'm pretty sure with their bad reputation. They're not getting enough business. They call back and harass our mother again. I'm pretty sure we're going to issue a lawsuit incompetence harassment are scamming the elderly! We will catch them on something! Through the struggle dealing with him dealing with them! The insensitivity displayed! The sheer incompetence! What seemed like never ending payments! Add distress and drama! They leave us alone we'll leave them alone. We have proof we made our last payment! But the higher ups really needs to take a deep dive in their records and find discrepancies! Get rid of them or shut it down! 👇 The community is tired of Rent-A-Center here in Wilson NC!

Stephanie is the manager and she also assisted in my delivery of a washer and dryer unit, It’s been a little over year so I’m almost paid up, payments are affordable and convenient if you autopay, and it’s easy when you set it up bi weekly instead of monthly

We decided that we did not want the couch anymore and that they could come get it. I called while at work after 1 P.M. . They said that they would get back to us and never did. My husband called the store after having missed the call from them so when he called back around 4:35 they said that they were on the way. My husband called again at 5:13 to see if they were still coming and they said they were 10 minutes away and he let them know that after 6 P.M. that no one would be available to be able to let them take the couch and that the following day no one would be home.. We waited until a few minutes after 6 and no one showed up. So they again call my husband and said that if we didn’t let them come and get it that we would have to pay. I called to let them know that we did let them know ahead of time that we wouldn’t be able to get it u til Monday if they did not get it before 6 due to no one being home again and the manager Terrance screamed at me and would not listen to what I was trying to say. He didn’t care and lied and said that they were here at exactly 6 at which point I told him that I waited until a little after 6. Safe to say we don’t wanna do business with this company again especially after already having a problem with the same person when he said that because he didn’t know us personally he didn’t have to speak to us respectfully. Don’t go to this store if you have a choice both managers have a horrible attitude and won’t except when they are wrong.
