What you can rent here

Rent-A-Center is a national rent-to-own chain with 1,948 stores across all 50 states, reaching communities from Lawrence, Massachusetts and Kissimmee, Florida to Harlingen, Texas and Booneville, Mississippi. Rent-A-Center holds a 4-star Google rating across more than 152,000 reviews. Compare Rent-A-Center on VRTO alongside other rent-to-own stores near you, with hours, ratings, and what each carries.

I was going to rent a laptop for my startup business needs, I signed up online, and agreed to a $10 first weeks payment and $66 a week thereafter, when I called the store to finalize the agreement I was told that they require a $500 deposit, nowhere online did it say anything about a deposit of any amount other than the $10 first weeks payment, I’ve lived in the same house for 20years, hold a steady job at service pro oil change on Laketon and Getty, and get nothing but 5*reviews from my customers and almost every one names me by name for 6months now. Rent a Center uses a bait and switch tactic, changing the agreed upon price when you talk to the store. I do not recommend them! Jose is the individual I spoke with at the apple avenue location! Upon calling the number that the owner gave me to call, The customer service was of no help whatsoever, they reconfirmed that my approval was fake and that it is a bait and switch, by telling me once again that Inwill need a $500 deposit, if I could afford to give up a whole weeks pay at once, I would not be trying to use a company like Rent a Center, I understand that the computer is expensive, but if you are going to change the terms of the agreement at the store you should say so up front and transparently, something along the lines of theses terms are subject to change at any moment! It’s no wonder that location has gotten 50 total reviews in 8 years of business, while my oil change has gotten ~75 5* reviews in the last 6 months with at least 60 of them mentioning me by name, and praising me for my honesty, and integrity, and transparency! Rent A Center needs someone who understands customer service in that location! The whole point of Rent a center is to help people like me! But this is contradictory by design! Here are some of my reviews at Service Pro Oil Change at 1779 S. Getty to back up what I say! Jose told the customer service department that I lied on my application, and said I owned my home, when I never said anything, that is defamation on top of deceptive trade practices, I sold my current laptop based upon the approval that I got Online! I’m definitely filing a small claims suit against Rent a Center and Jose!

Does not stop HARASSING you if you’re even a DAY late. Try communicating with them and they never answer their phones. Communication sucks and leniency is HORRIBLE. Will never go back to them
