What to Expect at This Store
Visiting a rent-to-own store is straightforward. Here is a general overview of what to bring and how the process typically works. Requirements may vary — contact Rent-A-Center directly to confirm.
What to Bring
- Valid photo ID — driver's license, state ID, or passport
- Proof of income — recent pay stub, bank statement, or benefits letter
- Proof of residence — utility bill, lease agreement, or mail with your address
- Personal references — typically 3-4 contacts with phone numbers
How It Works
- 1 Browse in store — choose from available furniture, appliances, electronics, and more
- 2 Apply — no traditional credit check at most stores; approval is based on income and residency
- 3 Get approved — many stores offer same-day approval and immediate access to your items
- 4 Delivery or pickup — most stores include free delivery, setup, and ongoing service/maintenance
Typically included with rent-to-own agreements:
Free delivery and setup, service and maintenance for the life of the agreement, the option to return items at any time without penalty, and an early purchase option (EPO) to buy the item outright before the lease ends. Rent-to-own is not a loan or credit purchase. Specific terms vary by store.

I have always paid my bill at rentacenter in augusta maine and paid alot of stuff off i let them know i would get caught up juts waiting on a payment from a job I did with a town .I didn't realize town pay out 2 times a mth and I still get calls 2 or 3 times a day I got sick with covid and let then know I was sick and at a Dr's appointment they still called 2or 3 times while I was at appointment I finally told them come pick up the mower I have been paying on because I don't know when I will get payment I told them this several times one would think work with me I hv never missed a payment and if I did I paid it on next due date I won't go through them again
Nothing bad to say about my experience here. They were super accommodating and got me in and out of there in record time and with exactly what I needed. Their option to buy out your item in 6 months completely eliminates the massive interest you pay on the item. Definitely worth it! Edit: they will call you daily after you miss a payment. Your best bet is to be honest and tell them when you can't make a payment. They will work with you. Do not ghost them. These people are amazing here and understand the stress of living paycheck to paycheck.
I bought a washer 2 mo ago there..flat out bought it bc home depot said it would be two or 3 months on back order due to covid. Well its been used for a month now and died and I basically paid twice the worth just 2 get it that day. It would be nice if they were open to contact but heyyy..who needs a washer
I have rented and now own several items from this particular store and I have found all to be friendly but one woman named Donna. She doesn’t smile like the rest of them and isn't very pleasant. She is the reason I am only giving four and not five stars. And because I deal with mostly the other staff, is the reason I will continue to do business there. I also like the way they treat me as a repeat customer for years. And Donna almost put my money on someone else’s account until I mentioned an item I have and the other person didn’t have that item. She said oops wrong person, what’s your name? And I think she’s the asst mngr. 🤔
We are good customers that pay what we owe every month & we are still harassed, called constantly & given attitudes by 2 different employees!! I’d hate to see how they treat the people that don’t pay what they owe!! They aren’t completely honest about availability or pricing, & if you are a co-applicant on someone else’s application who wants to rent your own merchandise they’ll put your application under the person who you co-applied merchandise with- though you wanted to rent something separately for yourself!!
