This was my first time renting, and Rent-A-Center wanted to charge a lot just to put money down. However, I found the same item at Aaron’s for much less. I asked an Aaron’s worker why Rent-A-Center was so expensive and why they charged so much. They mentioned Rent-A-Center’s contracts and fees, and they also brought up a YouTuber named Austin Evans, who talked about Rent-A-Center’s rental contracts and the true cost of renting items. After watching that video, I understand why many people dislike Rent-A-Center. What seemed even more concerning to me was how strongly they pushed customers to buy their items. I decided to go with Aaron’s instead. After reading the Rent-A-Center contract and showing it to my husband, he reviewed it and said it seemed odd. My husband is an attorney, so after thinking it over, I decided not to rent from Rent-A-Center and to stick with Aaron’s. In my honest opinion, I would avoid Rent-A-Center. I recommend watching Austin Evans’ video about Rent-A-Center before renting from them.

Mark is great love dealing with him store is always clean and wonderful people
Rent-A-Center's prices are significantly higher than Aaron's. For example, they quoted me $225 per month for a laptop, while Aaron's offered the same laptop for only $118 per month. I mentioned this price difference to a Aaron's employee, and their dismissive response, "That's why we're Aaron's," like it felt more like mocking Rent-A-Center. Beyond the high cost, Rent-A-Center aggressively pushed me to enroll in autopay. Despite refusing multiple times in person, I received persistent text and email reminders to sign up for auto pay like I get these text and emails every week. The excessive fees and charges, explained away as taxes, seem dubious. I'm unsure if there's outright theft, but the pricing and persistent autopay solicitations are concerning.
