Inside Rent-A-Center

What you can rent here

Rent-A-Center is a national rent-to-own chain with 1,948 stores across all 50 states, reaching communities from Lawrence, Massachusetts and Kissimmee, Florida to Harlingen, Texas and Booneville, Mississippi. Launched in 1973 in Wichita, Kansas, it was the first national chain to scale the rent-to-own model, building standardized showrooms stocked with new, name-brand merchandise. Stores carry furniture, appliances, electronics, computers, mattresses, gaming, and smartphones on flexible weekly or monthly lease agreements, and like most rent-to-own stores they typically do not require a traditional credit check. Rent-A-Center holds a 4-star Google rating across more than 152,000 reviews. Compare Rent-A-Center on VRTO alongside other rent-to-own stores near you, with hours, ratings, and what each carries.

Unbelievable. Made an order, paid the $ to put down for the order only to find out my complex is flagged as “do not rent” even though I have a year lease. Is this a joke? Now I have to wait on a refund.

This location is the best RAC location in North Florida! Miss Anna and Mr Victor will work tirelessly to help you find what items you need for your home that also work with your budget needs as well, they also provide excellent customer service and show a level of professionalism that I have never experienced at any furniture rental location ever in my life, I'm so grateful I came back and will continue to come back to them for anything I may need for my home!

The dum manager is a disgrace at this location. He is very disrespectful and I don’t like him. All the men up there are really just ridiculous. The lady is the only one who has sense never ever go here and spend your money.

In November, my son and I came down with bronchitis. He was hospitalized, and I lost my voice, so I wasn’t able to respond to this store for about a week. As soon as I could, I called to update them on my situation and explain when I’d be able to make a payment. The manager’s response was shockingly rude. He demanded immediate payment, threatening that I was “breaching my contract.” Despite my health and financial strain, I took $200 out of savings and paid. I explained I’d be caught up by December 5th,when I received my Salary check and he said “fine.” But instead of honoring that, he began calling me every hour, sending employees to my home, and speaking to me with a tone that was completely unprofessional and lacking empathy. When I asked about options if I couldn’t pay until the 5th, he told me there were none that they’d pick up my items and “maybe give me another shot in a few months.” I felt taken advantage of and lied to. Things only got worse. He closed my account unfairly, claiming it was because of the disagreements we had with each other. Stating my account been closed and with that being said im not even sure where my $200 payment I had made 6 days prior was even applied to my items. The store associate even admitted he could do whatever he wanted because he’s the GM. When I tried to schedule a pickup, he refused to confirm a time, sent people to my house without notice, and laughed at me when I called to calmly discuss the situation. On multiple occasions, he hung up on me mid‑conversation, refusing to let me explain or resolve the issue. Each time I tried to speak respectfully, he would cut me off, laugh at my situation, and throw subliminal remarks clearly meant to intimidate me. His behavior was not only unprofessional but deliberately humiliating. He repeatedly said he would “do what he needs to do” without explaining, which felt threatening. He mocked me instead of offering solutions, and his team kept showing up at random times of the day knowing I work two jobs. He made it clear that everything would be “on his time,” disregarding any attempt I made to set up a reasonable schedule. This manager is vindictive, dishonest, and unprofessional. He scammed me out of my money, closed my account unfairly, and treated me with complete disrespect. The communication in this store is terrible, and the customer service is the worst I’ve ever experienced. No customer should ever be laughed at, hung up on, or intimidated when trying to resolve a payment issue. This GM abuses his authority, and the company needs to take a serious look at how he is treating people.
