I shopped around for a shed to become an office and found that Johnny’s Backyard & Sheds was the only company who actually did everything from start to finish. I went to their location to look at the different displays and started the contract process. They were able to give me multiple quotes with different shed features so I selected some upgrades that made a big difference in making the shed spacious - two regular windows, a transverse window above the door, higher ceilings, and a full glass door for extra light. And of course AC! Due to the rain in SAT over the last few months it did take a bit longer than planned. The shed went up structurally in 1 day, the electrical person came out the next day to connect it and wire it, then spray foam installation (HUGE money saver), then they finished and painted it. The only thing we DIY’d is the floor thanks to them recommending it due to the savings. Johnny’s backyard has multiple contractors doing these tasks but they are prompt - once one person finishes, I got a call or text to schedule the next step. Everyone who sees the finished product in our backyard is very impressed and I cannot wait to use it as an office/reading space!

The truth is, I hate having to leave this review, but I feel an obligation to future customers considering such a large purchase. We truly love supporting local small businesses whenever possible because, in our experience, small business owners are usually passionate about their work and provide outstanding customer service. Unfortunately, that was not our experience with Johnny's. In fact, it was quite the opposite. Honestly, I wish we had read the reviews before making our $20,000 purchase. The entire experience became an absolute nightmare. Without exaggeration, we dealt with: * 8 (YES, EIGHT!) no-shows -- meaning we planned entire days around their scheduled visits, only to receive no call, no text, no update, and no respect for our time. We always had to be the ones to reach out just to find out they were not coming. * 1 scheduled visit where they actually notified us they would not make it and needed to reschedule. Sad to say, that felt like a win considering the circumstances. * Countless unanswered calls and texts, along with at least 10 promises that were never fulfilled. * An improperly installed electrical component that could have become extremely dangerous. We ultimately had to recommend and involve our own licensed electrician to ensure the work was completed safely and correctly. * 4 missing pieces/items which were ultimately installed after a very long and painful process. * A complete disregard for the customer's time, money, and overall experience. Unfortunately, once payment was received, customer service and accountability seemed to disappear entirely. I will say the office staff were always kind and pleasant to deal with, but they also seemed powerless when it came to actually resolving the issues. I genuinely hope Johnny's can improve their communication, reliability, and customer service because those things matter just as much as the product itself.

The only reason I am giving this place a 5 star rating, is cause 10 is not available. Johnny (the owner himself) and Roland would earn my business on any day of the week, and twice on a Saturday. I’ve been on the market for a playscape for my children for several weeks. We found this place and decided to stop in as they have some inventory already setup for display. When I tell you the QUALITY of these setups are mind blowing, I mean it. These things are durable and there’s nothing else I would want my children to be playing on after stopping by Johnny’s Backyard. We stopped in as they were having a meeting, but they noticed us, and took time to giving us all details on their units. We asked questions and they answered everything we needed to comfortably make a purchase. We were not hounded or pressured to buy and I feel that made things way more easier for me to sign on our playscape. If you want something built to last, and comfort in knowing your kids are gonna be safe, just save yourself the time and come to Johnny’s!

We were in the market for a playscape after our son was diagnosed with leukemia in October. With so many public places off-limits for us right now, my husband began transforming both our front and backyard into a safe, fun space for our kids at home. Johnny, the owner of Johnny’s Backyard, along with Roland, made the entire process so easy. They were incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely helpful when it came to choosing the right play area for our family. We haven’t completed our setup just yet, but we already plan on returning for add-ons once everything is installed and finished to our liking. If you’re on the fence or considering buying from a big box store—don’t. Give these guys a chance. The quality, service, and overall value are unmatched, and I truly believe you won’t be disappointed.

Had to rewrite because of apparent suppression issues after posting pics from his lawyer. Absolute nightmare. Avoid this company at all costs. I paid Johnny's Backyard over $20,000 for a custom backyard shed with several expensive upgrades (full electrical package, insulation, the works). They delivered a half-finished structure that didn’t match what I ordered and paid for, then built it without ever getting the required city permit. I came home to an official stop-work notice from the city slapped on my property. They charged me extra for “permitting help,” sent messages claiming everything was submitted and pending, then completely vanished. Multiple staff members stopped responding entirely—one even left the company mid-process without anyone telling me. Emails, follow-ups—nothing. Weeks turned into months of me chasing them while the unfinished shed sat useless in my yard, blocking space and forcing me to store everything inside my house. When I finally had enough and disputed the charge, instead of stepping up to finish the job or remove what they built, they sent a lawyer to threaten me and demanded I stop talking about it online. They never once offered to make it right—just excuses, blame-shifting, and more legal posturing. I ended up having to hire my own experts, pay additional fees, and fight through the entire permitting process myself just to make the thing legal. Their build is still sitting there incomplete and unusable. They didn't know what they were doing and even though their own rep came and did a site visit it now appears I'm going to have to pay a lot to have it removed. Currently I'm out the $20,000+ for the shed and about to be out quite a bit more to have it torn down and removed. This wasn’t bad service. This was taking thousands of dollars, delivering junk that didn’t match the agreement, lying about progress, ghosting a customer for months, then trying to bully them into silence when called out. They've been offered a "right to cure" and several other opportunities to finish the project. Johnny went 45 days straight days of not answering any emails before he finally did and it was only to demand his money and accept zero responsibility. I still don't have a legal building, no electrical, no spray foam insulation, nothing. They screwed everything up so hard I have a $3,400 quote plus a civil quote of $3,000 just to get through all their screwups and that's if it's even legal, which it doesn't appear to be. They're also using a lawyer to do everything they can and to block reviews of it all. Sent me threatening letters saying I was hurting their image when all I did was post images of his attorney and emails. They didn't like people seeing their own statements. If you want your money stolen and your property messed up with zero accountability, go ahead. Otherwise, run the other way. I regret every second I trusted them.

Johnny’s Sheds completely exceeded my expectations from start to finish! I honestly can’t say enough good things about them. It was, without question, one of the best customer service experiences I’ve ever had with any company. I went to see Johnny late on a Wednesday night, feeling stressed and unsure if what I needed was even possible. I had an event coming up in less than a week and needed a shed that I could turn into a walk-in cooler for storing flowers. Most companies would have told me it couldn’t be done in that timeframe — but not Johnny. He immediately jumped into problem-solving mode, listened carefully to what I needed, and assured me he’d do everything he could to make it happen. True to his word, Johnny went above and beyond. He not only got me the shed I needed but also coordinated with people who could insulate it and run power all within days. His communication was fantastic, he checked in throughout the process, and every single person he connected me with was kind, professional, and reliable. Thanks to Johnny’s hard work and quick turnaround, my event went off without a hitch. Without that cooler, all my flowers would have been ruined, and I can’t even imagine how stressful that would’ve been. Instead, everything worked perfectly, and I’m beyond grateful. It’s rare these days to find a business that genuinely cares this much about their customers. Johnny and his team treated my urgent situation like it mattered, and they delivered with honesty, kindness, and incredible service. I’ll be recommending Johnny’s Sheds to everyone I know. They’ve earned a customer for life!

We had such a great time at Johnny’s Backyard! Their playsets are amazing sturdy, safe, and full of fun for the kids. Our girls didn’t want to leave! You can find everything here from beautiful backyard playsets that make your space feel like a dream. The staff was super friendly and helpful, and you can tell they really care about creating family fun. Highly recommend visiting if you’re looking to build the perfect backyard setup!

I recently purchased this swing set for my daughter, and I couldn’t be happier with the decision! The set feels very sturdy and safe, which was my number one concern. The swings have adjustable ropes, which is great because my daughter is still growing. The slide is a huge hit—she must have gone down it a hundred times the first day! There’s also a small climbing wall and a play deck, which adds even more fun and encourages active play. What I love most is that this swing set keeps her outdoors, away from screens, and gives her a chance to use her imagination. She’s turned the play deck into a castle, a spaceship, and even a bakery. It’s been amazing to watch. If you’re considering a swing set for your kids, I highly recommend this one. It’s a great investment in outdoor fun and childhood memories!

Edited!! PLEASE READ- We had an amazing experience with Houston Swing sets/johnnys backyard sets! From customization of our perfect swing set to installation, it was a 10/10-original post Dec 19, 2024- the gymnastics bar on the swingset broke and hooked my daughter’s neck like a fish. 22 stitches and trauma after, we are praying this doesn’t happen to any other child. It was a horrific event. Deeply inspect your equipment and remove gymnastics bars. I don’t want any other parent to have to experience the trauma that we endured as a family.

We had searched high/low for a swing set for my daughters 4th birthday. Just about everyone was out of stock, or it took 2 weeks to come in. I was thankful to have found Houston Swingset Co on Marketplace! Not only was Mrs Amanda the sweetest to deal with but she also gave the best customer service. From the time of the order till it had arrived at their facility from their warehouse, she kept us up to date! We were blessed to have help to assemble. Instructions were extremely detailed and all parts were there. Took us about 7/8 hrs but we were able to get it done! I highly recommend over and over! They also was the cheapest around! Thank you so much for such a smooth process!!!!!
