Been with this rac in middletown for 13 going 14 years now Jr. Shandy. Mark. Dave. And now this dude Anyelo the new guy takes the cake with being the more disrespectful rude none human experience i have ever around he things his 4 years with your company he can do and say w.e he wants to the customers not to add my wife and I was in the store just the other day and we seen the assistant managers face of worry as he was potentially sending her father a broken ps5 that her father drove 2 hours to come get and he was still messing with it for 30 mins to a hour as he was thare waiting for it he wantted me to pay a month up front for something ill only have till the one I ordered get delivered and that will be 2 to 4 weeks mind you on my account I have a month free off I TOLD HIM I want to use it for that because why do I need to pay for something I am not keeping so word for word he said ITS MY STORY MY RULES ILL DO WHAT EVER I WANT mind you hes only been with racing for 4 YEARS I have been renting for 13 years I think I know the rules and policies by now now I think what rac needs to do is ether fire him or send him to training again to have him learn hes just a manager a employee not the owner of rac it self when I went it he was super rude in front of my child I think the assistant manager should be the store manager she has more class more of a level head mind set and she kind to work with shes a hard working woman please make her this location's manager it would be the best for you and less complaints and FRANK IF YOU SEE THIS I called corporate 2 days ago and I was told id get a call back in 24 to 48 hours I called and talked to your prov location and he said he texted your cell about a hour ago feel free to call me today ill be free

I’m really disappointed with my experience at this Rent-A-Center. I signed an agreement for a MacBook Air but I haven’t even received the computer yet and the system is already showing payment due dates. When I called to ask if the agreement could be paused until I actually got the laptop the employee I spoke with was rude and dismissive. He told me no, then mentioned something about refunding $10 and charging me $50 instead which didn’t even match what I was seeing in the app. When I asked how long it would take until I could just pick up the computer without changing my plan he hung up on me. I don’t think it’s fair to be charged for something I don’t even have yet and the way my questions were handled was very unprofessional. Customers deserve clear communication and respect, not to be brushed off or hung up on.

Please get new staff! I was just told off by a girl who worked there on the phone and then flat out refused to give me her name - she swore at me and everything and I do have the call recorded! She needs to be FIRED. When I called back to get her name she didn’t even start with a hi- who are you people hiring these days??? BIG YIKES!

Do not rent from this place. My couch was listed as brand new, came delivered with tears and scrapes. Then they were supposed to deduct the original price and come repair. Several months later the deduction wasn't made and the repair guy never came. Then I get a call from the office stating that the repair guy is based in New Jersey and comes out periodically to fix repairs. They called and it so happened to be the only week that I had appointments and couldn't accommodate the repair man. They gave me an attitude about saying I marked myself as "available all the time" and now they have to reschedule their guy. After giving me zero notice. I told them that it was the only week that I had commitment of the entire year. Then I was late this month on my payment. I have rented from Rent-a-Center for 4 years while living in IL and made 2 late payments in that 4 years. This Middletown branch tells me that I need to make an immediate payment or they will come repossess the couch. Nowhere does it state in the contract signed about a 7 day default and repossession. The management team and staff have been unprofessional and dont know how to manage this store, which was made aparent when they hung up on me when i asked them to explain what "Hard" meant on my account and defaulting after 7 days. I was responded to with, "if you dont pay you car payment after 10 days they reposess your car". To which i said, "no they dont. They slap a late fee on it and i pay it for being late" and they hung up on me. Avoid at all costs. And I can almost guarantee that someone from that store will comment to this review with some unprofessional nonsense. Just wait for it. They're incapable of handling anyone who doesnt just agree to what they have to say. I'm literally appalled at this branches continued behavior, have never had an issue with Rent-a-Center in my life but has been nonstop issues with them. Oh and let's also add how I've been paying $87 on time since October and they all of a sudden added another $10/mo and told me it was a "club" that handles repairs if I need them. I didn't sign up for the club nor ask for it. And additionally when I asked them why I would pay that if the repair mistake was their fault, they continued to push back about it. Then they said all I had to do was uncheck it if I didn't want to pay for it. Literally my mind is blown by how unprofessional this store is. Never in my life have I dealt with the level of nonsense when being a loyal customer. Update: went right to corporate to address the threat of repossession for one missed payment. Corporate called the store. Miraculously I'm now allowed to have an extension to catch my account up with my next scheduled payment. Thank God for the humanity in the corporate office because the store here lacks it. Thank you Gin at corporate for being compassionate, hearing my side, understanding I'm human and 1 missed payment doesnt make me a bad customer. Also validated that the experience I've had with this branch is not how Rent A Center carries themselves and that it would be filed and sent to upper management to address. Fingers crossed that actually happens because they need some serious training or just re-staffing of that place.

The good news first. Angelo was very nice and I did receive my rented sofa in a very short time. The style was nice and it is comfortable. Now the rest. While selecting my couch (it had to be sight unseen because it was in the warehouse), I was told that the one I selected was identified as used only because it was delivered to a home where it didn't fit. Otherwise, it was brand new. Not so much. Couch arrived on time but smelled gross. There was a cigarette burn on the seat cushion and a stain on the side. I took some pictures in case I was charged. After spraying the couch with odor remover and sticking some dryer sheets under the cushions, its much better. I will likely not go there again, unfortunately. Very disappointed. Just don't like being misled.
