What to Expect at This Store

Visiting a rent-to-own store is straightforward. Here is a general overview of what to bring and how the process typically works. Requirements may vary — contact Rent-A-Center directly to confirm.

What to Bring

  • Valid photo ID — driver's license, state ID, or passport
  • Proof of income — recent pay stub, bank statement, or benefits letter
  • Proof of residence — utility bill, lease agreement, or mail with your address
  • Personal references — typically 3-4 contacts with phone numbers

How It Works

  1. 1 Browse in store — choose from available furniture, appliances, electronics, and more
  2. 2 Apply — no traditional credit check at most stores; approval is based on income and residency
  3. 3 Get approved — many stores offer same-day approval and immediate access to your items
  4. 4 Delivery or pickup — most stores include free delivery, setup, and ongoing service/maintenance

Typically included with rent-to-own agreements:

Free delivery and setup, service and maintenance for the life of the agreement, the option to return items at any time without penalty, and an early purchase option (EPO) to buy the item outright before the lease ends. Rent-to-own is not a loan or credit purchase. Specific terms vary by store.

Rent-A-Center is a joke they give you a preapproval amount then when you pick something that’s in that preapproval amount they tell you that you’re not eligible for it yet so what is the point in giving people preapproval and then tell them they can’t get something that’s stupid. Sounds like false advertisement to me. and you already overcharged for stuff and you have the audacity to tell somebody they can’t get something after they’re already have an approval amount

DO NOT RENT !!!!!! So, though the delivery was fast they pressured me into doing autopay or they wouldn’t deliver my furniture. So I was getting weekly pay due to being out of work but now that I am back to work my payment schedule changed. I told them before I made the first about it they said oh they wouldn’t be able to do it and I’ll be late for 4 weeks etc etc ok so I decided to reach corporate. They made the change for February 14th but I was told my next payment for a customer service rep that it would be changed to the 28th to accommodate my pay day. So why I look on the rent a center app and see my next payment is for the 14th!!! That’s not every two week!!! I literally made a payment on the 5th so my next pay date should have been changed to the 28th!! Store really sucks I usually buy my things out but to get something quick I got rent a center. Can’t wait to be done with them. Update: Today I got a call from the store manager about my payment — likely because of autopay and a missed payment. I already told them in advance that I get paid on the 28th, so missing this one is no surprise. The manager tried giving excuses that made no sense, like saying I’m “locked in” because I paid earlier, and even compared renting furniture to paying rent for a home — totally ridiculous. This isn’t the first time I’ve had problems with their customer service, and today just proved they refuse to work with customers or understand basic situations. Extremely frustrating, unhelpful, and unprofessional. I won’t be doing business here again.

This was my first experience and the worst I canceled my order before it even got delivered. Everyone was very unprofessional and the communication skills are horrifying. I had to contact them. No one contacted me in lie and said they did. It was a very first and bad experience, I will never conduct business with this place. I did ask for a refund and will Be calling corporate on this location very unprofessional

I do not think I can express in words how this is the most unprofessional business I have ever encountered. I had my couch delivered in March of 2023 right before my daughter was born. The 2 gentleman that delivered my couch are the only positive I can say that I have had with RAC. They were polite and acknowledged right away that the couch they were delivering had damage and that they’d have it addressed with a manager. We went past due $90 (our payments were every two weeks) I have three children under the age of 7, and whoever they sent to my house about my $90 owed scared my children so bad by his knocking continuously on the door harder than I can even explain. I answered the door and explained the situation, while holding my hysterically crying toddler, all while the man was screaming throwing his hands in my face. I shut the door as we were all scared in the house and he continued to bang on my door as hard as he could, I ended up calling the store where Denard calmed me down and apologized. I explained to Denard that I will never let someone speak to me that way and also brought up for the 10th time that my damaged furniture still had not been fixed. He said someone would call me to have it fixed. Now if I hadn’t already paid thousands of dollars toward my couch I would’ve just thrown the couch out the door to make sure I never had to deal with someone treating me and my children the way they did that day. Fast forward to today, my payments are now weekly and we had to update our payment information for the $36 payment with tax and protection we had to pay $45 that we had missed that was due two days ago. Once again, I’m home with my three children, my 1 year old was sleeping on me sick, so I didn’t answer the door when an employee was once again banging on my door continuously as hard as possible. I finally got up with the baby and my shirt half off to answer the door because it was scaring my 4 year old. I explained to him I was sitting with my sick child and they show up at my house banging uncontrollably and won’t stop until I update my payment method, but still have yet to address the fact that my couch is still damaged with no one worried about fixing it but I am expected to allow the harassment because I owe them $45. I then called the store and the manager told me she would not address having the couch fixed until I made the payment. She also stated the employee would not stop knocking or move his truck until the payment was made. She said they’re allowed to continuously bang if they see someone is home, he came up to the window where my 4 yr old was standing, so the manager stated the banging was allowed because my toddler in the window showed that someone was home. She also told me the reason she was aggressively yelling at me on the phone was because I had an attitude. I was a manager for over 15 yrs, and I would not dare speak to any customer the way she did to me today. I got off the phone with her after she told me the employee would continue knocking and would not move the truck, and she did not want to call the police but that would be her next step today. I told her I would make a payment today when I could and again told her about my sick child, she then told me she’s a Mom of four and that if she can make time right then to do it then I should be able to to. Again, not professional to compare our abilities as a Mom. I got off the phone and sent a text to my husband to ask him to update the payment method for me since my daughter was sick and I was unable to do so. I called her back a few min. later and the manager said she was addressing the damaged item and after I made a payment she’d work on ordering a new couch for me, I told her my husband had already went on and made the payment. I do appreciate her acting on the damaged furniture, but I would rather give the couch back then be treated the way I have been at this point. Again besides Denard and the other polite gentlemen that delivered my couch, I have been horrified with how I’ve been treated by anyone else within that RAC.

My AC broke and I needed a quick replacement didn’t wanna come out of pocket $500 so I check out rent a center online. I saw they had something in stock so I signed up. Long story short, Service was disappointing to say the least. I called for a refund that was supposed to go back to my card. After being told I can only get the refund on Fridays because that’s the only day they have cash, I was then informed that if I didn’t come in today I’ll forfeit the refund. I can ensure y’all I am not picking up that refund. There’s nothing worse than being around bad attitudes, and the women at this location are horrible. It’s truly sad but I can tell their attitudes reflect where they are in life. You can hear the “single mom” vibes through the phone I pray y’all progress personally and professionally a $15 attitude is the reason you are and will remain stuck at the bottom. #keeptherefund
