What to Expect at This Store
Visiting a rent-to-own store is straightforward. Here is a general overview of what to bring and how the process typically works. Requirements may vary — contact Rent-A-Center directly to confirm.
What to Bring
- Valid photo ID — driver's license, state ID, or passport
- Proof of income — recent pay stub, bank statement, or benefits letter
- Proof of residence — utility bill, lease agreement, or mail with your address
- Personal references — typically 3-4 contacts with phone numbers
How It Works
- 1 Browse in store — choose from available furniture, appliances, electronics, and more
- 2 Apply — no traditional credit check at most stores; approval is based on income and residency
- 3 Get approved — many stores offer same-day approval and immediate access to your items
- 4 Delivery or pickup — most stores include free delivery, setup, and ongoing service/maintenance
Typically included with rent-to-own agreements:
Free delivery and setup, service and maintenance for the life of the agreement, the option to return items at any time without penalty, and an early purchase option (EPO) to buy the item outright before the lease ends. Rent-to-own is not a loan or credit purchase. Specific terms vary by store.

Found a washer dryer set I liked online, paid the deposit and scheduled a time to come into the store to finalize everything because they said I couldn’t do it online. Went to the store for my apt only to find out they sold the unit I had put a hold on. The manager was dismissive and said they had other models that were better anyway…. That wasn’t the point.
Absolute garbage. My husband and I inquired about a sofa online. We soon received a phone call by a salesman pushing all different furniture. We explained that with the prices, payments and our needs- we were no longer interested. The phone calls stopped for a few week. They then started up again with the same message "your approved for this and that! Call us back!" Over and over again even after saying we're not interested. I then received a phone call from some young, rude, aggressive and unprofessional stating that we have they merchandise. Not only do we not, we said we were interested in doing business with them but our property is lined with cameras. No delivery was made. The constructed email they put together isn't even my signature and we NEVER purchased a thing! Someone is either pulling a scam or has made a serious mistake on their end. This is bullshit and not something we will put up with. Our lawyer has already been contacted. Patricia O'Brien
I had a disappointing experience with Rent-A-Center on North Hampton St. in Holyoke. I was informed that my delivery would arrive between 1-3 PM, but after waiting, the manager said they were still waiting and that it would be delivered after lunch. They later stated they needed to pick it up from storage, which further delayed the process. What was even more frustrating was that they claimed they delivered my item at 1 PM, and their workers signed as if it was me, which is simply unacceptable. Additionally, their communication lacked professionalism. Using informal phrases like 'ight, I gotchu' doesn't set a positive tone for customer interaction. Overall, I found the service unprofessional and frustrating. I expected better from a place like this
I have called and have been to the store. The employees at the store have been helpful. The Manager and district manager have nocustomer service skills. I have been waiting for a call back from either one with no reply. So disappointed with there customer service.
Patrick was very helpful giving us information to put together what we wanted. He was professional, courteous and friendly. When it came to delivering our furniture, the driver was out that day but the store worked the problem and we got not only our bed, but our sofa & loveseat, which wasn’t supposed to deliver until later that week. This store worked the problem and provided excellent customer service. Thank you!
